Operating in Asia, Barkmall is first launched in Hong Kong and endeavours to expand its reach to China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, APAC, and the world.

Here at Barkmall, our engineering team works on a myriad of problem domains. You get to work on building the simplest buying and selling experience on our mobile applications, dive deep into our database systems that powers the business, or even work on tools to empower the rest of the teams at Barkmall.

Note - This will be a 6 months internship programme based in Hong Kong, the right to work in Hong Kong is required.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with other engineers, product managers, designers and data scientists to build features and run experiments.
• Write clean, testable code.
• Work with the infrastructure team to deploy, scale and optimize the performance of your solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain and contribute to a high-quality code culture.
• Learn to design and implement scalable solutions starting from broadly defined problems and first principles.
• Brainstorm with your team to understand the requirements and participate in the design discussion.
• Try different engineering domains you are interested in (Backend, Web, iOS, Android or Testing)

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software engineering or other equivalent degrees/experience
• Strong communication and written skills.
• Good command of both spoken and written English (Chinese is a plus)

Nice to have

• Built and shipped production level web apps using Express, React, Redux and Webpack
• Experience with multi-language, multi-country, and multi-currency web apps
